Prenatal and Postnatal Care

Women’s health physiotherapy focuses on the unique health needs of women throughout their lives, particularly during the prenatal and postnatal periods. Our specialized prenatal and postnatal care programs support women through the physical and emotional changes of pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. By providing comprehensive, evidence-based physiotherapy, we aim to optimize maternal health, facilitate recovery, and promote overall well-being.

Prenatal Care

Prenatal physiotherapy is essential for managing the physical changes and challenges of pregnancy. Our prenatal care program offers various services to support women throughout their pregnancy journey:

  • Education and Counseling: We provide education on the physiological changes during pregnancy, preparing women for the demands of childbirth and postpartum recovery. Counseling sessions address concerns, answer questions, and offer emotional support.
  • Exercise Prescription: Tailored exercise programs are designed to maintain fitness, improve strength, and enhance flexibility. These programs include low-impact cardiovascular exercises, strength training, pelvic floor exercises, and stretching routines that are safe for pregnancy.
  • Pain Management: Pregnancy often brings discomfort and pain, particularly in the lower back, pelvis, and hips. Our physiotherapists use various techniques such as manual therapy, massage, and specific exercises to alleviate pain and improve mobility.
  • Postural Education: As the body changes, posture and alignment can be affected, leading to discomfort and potential issues. We educate women on maintaining proper posture and body mechanics to reduce strain and prevent pain.
  • Pelvic Floor Health: Strengthening the pelvic floor muscles is crucial during pregnancy to support the growing uterus, manage urinary incontinence, and prepare for childbirth. We guide women through pelvic floor exercises, including Kegels, to enhance muscle strength and function.

Postnatal Care

The postpartum period is a critical time for recovery and adaptation to motherhood. Our postnatal care program provides comprehensive support to help women recover from childbirth and adjust to their new roles:

  • Postpartum Assessment: A thorough assessment is conducted to evaluate the physical condition, including musculoskeletal alignment, pelvic floor function, and overall fitness. This assessment helps us create personalized treatment plans.
  • Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation: Childbirth can weaken the pelvic floor muscles, leading to issues such as urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. Our rehabilitation program includes exercises and techniques to restore pelvic floor strength and function.
  • Diastasis Recti Management: Separation of the abdominal muscles (diastasis recti) is common after pregnancy. We provide targeted exercises to close the gap, strengthen the core, and improve abdominal function.
  • Scar Tissue Management: For women who have undergone cesarean sections or episiotomies, scar tissue can cause discomfort and restrict movement. Our physiotherapists use manual therapy and specific exercises to mobilize and soften scar tissue.
  • Pain Relief: Postpartum pain, whether from childbirth, surgery, or breastfeeding, can hinder recovery. We offer pain relief techniques such as manual therapy, gentle stretching, and ergonomic advice for daily activities.
  • Return to Exercise: Gradually returning to exercise is crucial for postpartum recovery. We guide women through safe and effective exercise routines, considering individual fitness levels and recovery stages. These routines include cardiovascular exercises, strength training, and flexibility work.
  • Breastfeeding Support: Breastfeeding can strain the upper body, causing neck, shoulder, and back pain. We provide ergonomic advice and exercises to alleviate discomfort and support breastfeeding mothers.
  • Emotional Well-being: The postpartum period can be emotionally challenging. Our physiotherapists offer support and resources to help women manage stress, anxiety, and postpartum depression, promoting mental and emotional health.

My experience with bridges speech centre has been great. My child is attending OT in the center and we are happy and proud with the progress Mrs. Richa has made. The therapists are very supportive and knowledgable in selecting techniques to suit with our child's requirements . Their monthly review and evaluation is remarkable. I highly recommend bridges speech centre to anyone looking for an affordable and professional therapy for their child....

We were asked to consult a speech therapist for my son. As parents we were quite skeptical about this whole process. However, once my son started attending Dr Rupali’s sessions we noticed a drastic improvement in his speech. He used to speak only a few words but within the 1st four sessions he started speaking up-to 5 words sentences. I also learnt to manage my child’s emotions better with Dr Rupali’s guidance. She is very cooperative and patiently answer all questions.

We took our 21 month old daughter to Bridges speech center following her cleft palate surgery as she needed Speech therapy. Ms.Rupali was recommended to us by both our Pediatrician and ENT specialist. The staff at Bridges are qualified, warm and friendly. My daughter loved to attend the speech therapy sessions. Through various techniques and simulations provided during these sessions, I can see considerable improvement in my daughter's speech. Lastly I would say, no child is same, as parents we need to be patient and trust the process.
